SWFL2 SW: Renfrew Ladies v United Glasgow

Renfrew made it four out of four in the league as they knocked nine past United Glasgow without reply.

With several changes to the starting line up, Renfrew initially looked hesitant and took a while to get into their stride. On a couple of occasions United played the ball in behind of the home defence and should have done better, but failed to trouble Sam McQuillian in the goal.

It took 11 minutes before Frew got in front and it was thanks to Jane Murphy who headed home from Kirsty Ross's corner.

The opening goal should have settled any nerves, but it was another quarter of an hour before Renfrew doubled their lead, Karen Baillie shooting home from 6 yards after a clever cut back from Erin Gould. Just after the 30 minute mark it was 3-0, when Kirsty shot home from edge of box after a pass from Erin.

The early stages of the 2nd half mirrored the first with neither side gaining the upper hand.

Renfrew made all their changes in the second half, as they tried to put the game beyond the reach of the visitors.

It was on the hour mark that the scoreline was troubled again, when the hosts extended their lead.

Karen showed great composure with a great first touch, to shoot low and hard past keeper after being found on the edge of the box. A couple of the subs combined to make it 5-0 when on 66 minutes Sammy Jo Smiths corner was only partially cleared, and fell nicely to Lindsay Fitzpatrick who drove a shot through a crowded area, and past the keeper into the net.

Moments later and Renfrew went close again when Karen's shot beat the keeper, but came back off post.

It was half a dozen in the 81st minute when a lovely sweeping move saw Sammy Jo hit the bye line before delivering a cross for Debbie McGarrell to fire home from close range.

Two minutes later and the scorer turned provider when a cracking pass from Debbie found Karen, and she made no mistake firing high past the keeper to complete her hat-trick and make it 7-0.

The final 5 minutes saw a quick fire double from Captain Janice McIntyre.

On 86 minutes she shot from the corner of the box to give keeper no chance, before converting from the spot, a couple of minutes later, after Sian Francis was fouled in the box.

Renfrew: Sam, Jane, Sophie, Eilidh, Janice, Katrina, Kirsty, Erin, Karen, Gail, Natalie

Subs Lindsay, Lee, Debbie, Sammy, Sian

The team should be happy with the result which maintains their perfect start to the season, but they know they can play better. United Glasgow rarely threatened and would have been glad to hear the final whistle.

Renfrew travel to 1st Division Hibernian Ladies Development for a friendly on Tuesday night before the next scheduled game which is the League Cup 2nd round match against Granite City Ladies on 24th April.
